Hamster Health

Categories: Uncategorized | August 12th, 2008 | by ADMIN | no comments

I received this earlier today and thought i was an excellent question and may be very useful to others so here it its .

I have a robo hamster and we bought 2 of them together brothers and they have happily lived together. But lately I have notice that one of them is alot smaller than the other. He also has a spot on its lower back close to his tail but a lil higher where it looks like either fur is falling out. Its feel rough and crunched up together. He has no energy to run, he has no appetite and Im afraid of losing him what wrong with him and what can I do to help him. HELP!

Hi Roxy ,
I’m sorry to hear your robo hamster is poorly . i have done some research into the problem your having with your little hammy do you know if your hamsters may have been fighting ? as sometimes abscesses or uclers may occur which may be what the crunched up spot is , also your hamster may have been biting each others tail while playing or fighting.
I would recommend separating your hamsters into two cages incase of infection so it does not spread to his brother as that may be fatal.i would try and feed your hamster baby food in a syringe just small amouts to try and increase his appetite ,if that brings no look i would recommended you call your local vet asap .
Do keep a close eye and if your worried ring vet asap .a small animal is just as important as any ! vet fees start from around £6 and then any medication on top .

keep in touch and let me know how he gets on. GOOD LUCK
