Have you tried Bob Martins Spot On for hamsters yet ? which protects from flies ,fleas ,ticks ,lice and mites .if you use this product every 4 weeks it will provide continous protection for your hamster. you should apply 6 drops to a hamster which weighs about 125g adjust for smaller or bigger hamsters .Your hamster probably wont show any side affects but if they do wash off with luke warm soapy water .
