Housing

rosts1.jpgHOUSING

there are many different types of house avalible to your hamster :

light weight plastic cages can be difficult to fit toys and water bottle in and within the combined space ammonia levels can be high which is not good for your hamster health

cages with horizontal bars will allow your hamster to move and climb around there cage freely ,you shud always check the strengh of the clips keeping your hamsters cage together to make sure there tight and strong enough to keep the cage together.

larger wired hamster cages will give your hamster a lot more room to run around ,larger cages may consist of 2,3 or 4 levels to them ,they may also have tubes and tunnels included and mostof theses cages are a lot easier to clean and dis-assemble .

its very easy to increase your hamsters tublabur system you can get all sorts of things from gyms ,to houses, to hammy carry cages which can all be added with extra tubbing and safety connecting rings .

dwarf hamsters are not recommend for wired cages as they can squeeze through the spaces in between the bars and to nibble the bars off .if your hamster escapes its unlike you will find it again but you can try leaving there house outside of there cage with treats leading up to it and if your hamster does return its likely that it will fall alsleep in there house and hopefully you will catch them in time before there wonder off again .

SECOND HAND CAGES

always becareful if you buy a second hand cage as the previous hamster may of had a fateful illness causing it to pass away ,its always best to check with who you get the cage and ask what there hamster dyed of .its also wise to check any thing dangerous that may cause your hamster any injurie or harm eg nibbled tubes .always disinfect the cage throughly before introducing your new hamster into there home its best to give anything up to 2 weeks before putting them in the cage .

BEDDING

there are many types of bedding avalible :

natural vegatable fibre

soft paper bedding

flattened barley straw

always make sure that you choose one of the above bedding which are safe for your hamster .its best to use paper bedding for your dwarf hamsters as other can get caught in there feet and cause injurie .
